This drama follows the life of a woman who is the daughter of a fierce military general. However, due to palace politics, she is asked to return to the capital with the ruse of being crowned princess, so that the palace can control the influence of her parents. When she steps into the capital, the crown prince begins to test her at every turn to understand her intentions. But, he is shocked to see that despite appearing to be quite fragile, she is cunning, smart and, never gives up. The more they battle, the more their mutual appreciation for each other increases. But, is that enough for these two guarded souls to open up to each other? Will these two, figure out that they are made from the same cloth, and they are and always have been perfect for each other? My Review…
I think I started this drama with the hopes of watching a story with a great battle of wits between two formidable leads. However, the more I watched, the more unfulfilled I felt. I wanted to enjoy this story so much, but the slow pace of the plot thwarted that. The acting of the leads wasn’t bad, and the chemistry was decent too, but this was an extremely slow-burn romance for my taste. The romance plot dragged on and on, and I felt like the actual romantic scenes between the leads started very late into this drama.
Also, the moves that the female protagonist played in every scene may be well-crafted and logical, but, I frankly struggled to reconcile her extreme innocence at times with the shrewd mind that she portrayed at other times. Further, the characterization of the crown prince was also a little difficult to understand, since it looked like he oscillated between cunning and stupid, which was a little unappetizing to watch as well. To be fair, I honestly had to fast-forward the drama a lot to reach the end. So, if you are looking for an extremely slow-burn romance that involves a battle of wits between the leads, you can give this one a try. But, there are honestly better dramas with similar plots out there that you can give a try instead of this one! I will leave the decision up to you!
